Engineering Operative Standard Motorsports Apprenticeship (Level 2)

DURATION

This Standard requires the Learner to undertake the full time study programme to attain the Knowledge Qualification (Typically this is 6 months). Once this has been successfully completed the learner can be employed as an apprentice to completed the skills qualification and attain the L2 Engineering Operative Standard that takes up to 24 months.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

It is desirable that apprentices will hold GCSEs in maths English and ICT at grade C or above. If the apprentice has been employed without these grades the opportunity to undertake Functional Skills at level 2 will be an essential element to achieving all elements of the level 2 apprenticeship.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL I GAIN?

  • Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (knowledge)
  • Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

The Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard with the National College of Motorsports combines the knowledge qualification gained on the full time programme with the skills qualification attained in the workplace to achieve the full Apprenticeship Standard following the synoptic end point assessment process.

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Working efficiently and effectively in advanced manufacturing and engineering
  • Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
  • Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
  • Stripping and rebuilding motorsport vehicles pre-competition
  • Inspecting a motorsport vehicle during a competition
  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults on motorsport vehicle systems during competition

Further Knowledge modules will delivered as part of this Apprenticeship Programme.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Knowledge Module qualifications are exam assessed through an exam. These will be multiple choice. A portfolio of workplace evidence is to be created throughout the duration of the apprenticeship using Onefile E Portfolio System.

  • Gateway assessment
  • End Point Assessment

WHAT WILL I BE ABLE TO DO NEXT?

Currently there is no Level 3 progression within Motorsports. Apprentices can develop their engineering qualifications with Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in a number disciplines with The Bedford College Group.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS?

All students will have to purchase uniforms at an approximate cost of £300 (subject to change).
